Amen
Still motivated by signs
Good feelings and everything else that rhymes
At 24 I’m still searching for what defines
I’ve been there done that but I can’t put up the blinds
Because more than one time I’ve read the same book twice
Drank ice from hell and did wrong at night
At least he knows my fight
So when I wakeup I wont see my eyelids
Thinking back years ago and saying DAMN at what I did
Why me? I used to ask
Be serious I used to laugh
Time wasted on nothing because I didn’t like math
Still motivated by signs
Good feelings and everything else that rhymes
In love I could’ve been blind but not happy to be Braille
My mind aint frail but my thoughts have become stale
Excuse me for a minute while I finish this ale
Please convey your knowledge on my perception
The growth inside of me is waiting on C-section
Some cross over dribble to stop the drip from their ceiling
I floss over riddles to block the pangs of these feelings
Thank God I’m not a baby’s father
Not aiming to be a young lady’s bother
But the servant in his kingdom
Dear heavenly father
Amen

I'm really not sure what to make out of this poem, it seems like it was written out of a little bit of personal pain.
I do know that trying to be a positive young adult is extremely hard, it seems like a lot of people would rather have our black youth become just another statistic. Statistics are nothing but numbers and if you just a number on a page then what have you contributed to the world. Young adults need to start putting on their horse blinders and get focused on achieving their own personal goals…forget all the nonsense around you and just do you!!
There's alot of personal pain that comes with being a black man, and alot of anger.
When I read the poem I saw a Man, attempting to break away from the bondage of his past. I see a young man in pursuit of freedom; battling and fighting to get out of his old way of thinking. I see a young man going through a transformation. One that we as Black people stuggle with everyday. A transformation that redeems us from the slave like thinking of old times and renews us as Children of the Creator. Becoming free is a process and when I read this poem I see a fellow brother in fighting against the wind, fighting against the odds fighting against himself and his thoughts, fighting to change. And as a brother 25 striving to Free as well. I can empathize and honor my fellow brothers Fight. Be encouraged young brother be encouraged.
man THAT WAS COLD
Read so you will have more to say and original ways to say it!
